Lankford’s is coming to The Woodlands! The burger joint is expected to open at 24 Waterway Ave., Ste. 160, by next January, Community Impact reports.
The grocery store turned ice house turned beloved burger hotspot first opened on Dennis Street in 1937. Aubrey and Nona Lankford established the original Lankford’s as a mom-and-pop grocery store in downtown Houston before their daughter, Eydie, took over the business and transformed it into an in-house, according to the website. Eydie would later turn Lankford’s icehouse into a full-service restaurant that her son and his wife, Paul and Jessica Prior, now own and operate.
What Now Houston reached out to the Priors for comment on the new Lankford’s opening, but did not hear back by the time of publication.
This will be the third Lankford’s in the Greater Houston area, with another location in Bellaire. While there’s no word just yet on another opening, the family shares hopes to continue the Lankford’s legacy via its website.
The eatery has gained quite the attention for its multitude of burgers. Ranging from an old-fashioned to The Houston, which is a half-pound patty topped with Slow-Smoked Brisket, Pickles, Onions, Cheddar Cheese, and BBQ Sauce on a Brioche Bun, Lankford’s has a burger for everyone.
Though known for its variety of burgers, Lankford’s also has an extensive breakfast menu and offers sandwiches and salads. With Lankford’s continued success, it’s no surprise that the new location on Waterway will also offer the same, if not a similar, menu.
Find out for yourself when the new Lankford’s opens at 24 Waterway Ave., Ste. 160, early next year.
