PJ’s Coffee continues to expand its reach across the Lone Star State, with a second coffee shop opening in Magnolia. According to a recently filed permit with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the new PJ’s Coffee shop is expected to open in Magnolia Crossing at 11510 FM 1488, Suite 100.

The permit further details that construction for the new PJ’s Coffee shop in Magnolia is set to start at the end of next month and wrap up toward the end of February 2027. If permitting goes smoothly and the estimated $225,000 construction project stays on track, the new PJ’s Coffee Shop should open in Magnolia by spring 2027.

Acelinc Brew LLC is at the helm of the opening; it was listed on the permit and is a local franchisee run by Arthur Cunanan. What Now Houston reached out to Cunanan to learn more about the upcoming opening. Unfortunately, we did not hear back by the time of this publication.

“PJ’s Coffee utilizes only the best quality arabica coffee beans sourced from around the world. This gourmet coffee is small batch roasted in 300lbs or less by Roastmaster Felton Jones, who alone has over 25 years of experience with PJ’s Coffee,” the PJ’s Coffee website reads.

“PJ’s Coffee strives to deliver a unique coffee experience to all locations, regardless of if they are in the heart of our home city, or far-flung across the world. With one step in the door, you are greeted with the scent of our 100% Arabica beans, invoking the soul and unique experience of our original location on Maple Street.”

Industry pioneer Phyllis Jordan founded PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans in September 1978 in the Carrollton neighborhood of New Orleans. Named using her initials “PJ,” the brand grew from a single shop on Maple Street into an international franchise known for small-batch roasting and pioneering the cold-drip iced coffee process.

PJ’s Coffee’s recent growth focuses heavily on celebrating its deep New Orleans heritage and signature Southern coffee traditions. Ballard Brands currently leads the brand.  What Now also spoke briefly with Ballard Brands CEO Scott Ballard to learn more about expansion plans. Ballard confirmed the upcoming opening but, unfortunately, couldn’t share further details by the time of publication.

“Ballard Brands is a privately held hospitality and foodservice company formed by brothers Paul, Steven, and Scott Ballard,” the Ballard Brands website reads.

“After achieving success as franchisees for Smoothie King and PJ’s Coffee in Louisiana, Georgia and North Carolina, the three brothers reunited back in Louisiana to expand their footprint as PJ’s franchisees and open the first WOW Cafe (now WOW American Eats) in 2001.”

More than 190 PJ’s Coffee locations now operate across the country, with more than 300 additional units in various stages of development. The Lone Star State has 32 of those locations, with nearly a dozen serving the Greater Houston region and its visitors.

Check out the new PJ’s Coffee when it opens in Magnolia Crossing at 11510 FM 1488, Suite 100, by Spring 2027.
