Smokey Mo’s is anticipated to open a second location in the Greater Houston region in the near future. The beloved Texas BBQ growing chain is embarking on an expansion in the area, with plans to bring 30-40 locations across the Greater Houston-Galveston area throughout the next few years, according to the Houston Business Journal.
Smokey Mo’s currently has a location just outside of Houston in Conroe. No specific timeline is available just yet on the expansion. The plan is to look for franchisees in the area to help scale up operations in the Greater Houston region.

What Now Houston reached out to Smokey Mo’s CEO Craig Haley to find out more details about the upcoming expansion, but did not hear back by the time of this publication.
Smokey Mo’s BBQ was founded by Morris “Mo” and Lisa Melchor in Cedar Park, Texas in 2000. The family business has grown into a Central Texas staple. After expanding to more than 16 locations, the chain was aquired by Switchback Capital in 2022 and continues to grow.
There are now 22 Smokey Mo’s BBQ locations throughout Central Texas.
