SweetCup Gelato & Sorbet Originale, a Houston-based frozen dessert shop known for its handcrafted, seasonal gelatos and sorbets, is preparing to expand its reach with a new franchised location at 20711 Tuckerton Rd in Cypress.
Founded by Jasmine Chida, SweetCup has carved a niche by offering a diverse array of flavors that reflect Houston’s multicultural vibe. From local favorites like Pomegranate Rose to unique vegan-friendly and dairy-free options, each flavor is crafted from scratch. SweetCup’s Montrose location alone features up to 48 rotating flavors at a time, making it a staple in Houston’s dessert scene. Each batch is made fresh using high-quality, local ingredients, ensuring that every scoop resonates with the community-driven ethos behind the brand.
SweetCup’s expansion into Cypress is part of its mission to make artisanal gelato accessible across the Houston area. Currently, the brand’s offerings can be enjoyed at its scoop shops, and pints are also available in select Texas grocery stores such as Whole Foods and Central Market. Known for bringing flavors like Indian kulfi and chocolate chai into the mainstream, SweetCup has garnered a loyal following who appreciate both its inventive menu and commitment to quality.
While an official opening date has not been set, Community Impact has reported that the popular Montrose-based gelateria is on track to bring its Texas-inspired flavors to the Cypress area soon, but is still to be determined.
