The Fresh Monkee, a beloved smoothie and shake concept known for its grab-and-go convenience and real food ingredients, is planting roots in Texas with its first Houston-area location set for 29907 Jordan Crossing Blvd #750 in Katy. Leading the charge is Franchisee and Area Developer Kailee Wong, a former Houston Texans linebacker turned health-focused entrepreneur.
Wong, who previously owned The Athletic Room in Bel Air, has since relocated to Fulshear and was on the lookout for a business that aligned with his personal wellness values. After tasting The Fresh Monkee while on a trip to Rhode Island, he knew he found the perfect fit. “The brand uses real food, fruit, nuts, and seeds,” he explained. Wong also boasted how The Fresh Monkee focuses on quality ingredients, lower sugar amounts, and a low glycemic index made it a natural extension of his own lifestyle and business philosophy.
Since joining the company in September 2024, Wong has taken on a broader role as an area developer, helping to ensure brand consistency across multiple upcoming locations. While the Katy store will be his first personally-owned franchise, Wong has already supported letters of intent for The Woodlands, Montgomery, and Sienna Plantation, where other franchisees will own and operate those sites under his strategic guidance.
The Fresh Monkee’s expansion into Texas marks a major milestone for a brand that’s already popular throughout the Northeast. Wong’s multi-unit deal hints at more locations to come as he continues to grow the brand’s presence in the South. With a clean, efficient product and a focus on health without sacrificing taste, The Fresh Monkee is poised to make a strong impression on Houston’s bustling fitness and wellness scene.
The Katy location is expected to open in Summer 2025.
