According to recent public records, a new independent pizza place is coming to Gainesville. Pleasant Street Pizza Pub will be debuting at 603 NW 6th Street.

Main Street Daily News reports that the establishment will be “serving up custom wings, salads, local craft brews and specialty pizzas made from scratch with beer dough.”

“Guy and McClure—who also own Muñeca’s Taco Garden and Bar in 4th Ave Food Park and raise a daughter together—intended to expand Muñeca’s catering and open a commissary kitchen when they bought the 6th Street building back in 2022. But once they started renovating the building, they quickly realized it would require far more work and money than they planned,” the report states.

“The foundation was gone, the facade was cracking, the roof rotted out and there was financial uncertainty to boot,” the owners posted on Facebook.

“It’s been since June of 2022 since we took a HUGE leap of faith on this old building. It was home to several local businesses, some even restaurants, in the Pleasant Street neighborhood and now it’s our turn to give a go as a neighborhood Pizza Pub,” a recent Facebook post states.“We’ve done our very best to try and pay homage to its roots and keep a slice of Gainesville intact. When all odds were against us, we kept holding the line. Something about seeing Gainesville’s change over the years made us very stubborn in making sure this building did not lose its charm.”

“The foundation was gone, the facade was cracking, the roof rotted out and there was financial uncertainty to boot. But we had a shell. A beautiful brick and nearly historic building that we believed in. And we had Muñeca’s keeping us strong and our great employees & customers we call friends following our story in person and cheering us on, so we preserved.”

“Here are some progress pictures from day one when we signed on the dotted line and celebrated with a beautiful bottle of champagne with friends and family! And almost two years later when it got a foundation and a roof. What a glorious feeling that was! Much love to all those who have supported us! We promise to provide the best product we possibly can for you!”
