Created and curated by artist Elena Ohlander, Konbini Labo is “Your Friendly Neighborhood Snack Dealer.” Described as an “inconvenience store,” it’s a place where you can relax, enjoy coffee, a selection of Japanese foods and snacks, and buy merch.
“Welcome to Konbini Labo — the inconvenient convenience store you didn’t ask for, but can’t stop thinking about,” says the brand’s website.
Konbini Labo is currently closed as Ohlander has been traveling, but if you’ve been missing this quirky spot at 41 Duval St, fear not: recent coverage by the Jacksonville Business Journal says it’s preparing for a reopening in March.
“I wasn’t expecting such a large following so quickly,” Ohlander says in the Business Journal coverage.
But that’s what Konbini Labo got!
“Was completely caught off guard by how good the spicy tuna Onigiri is!!!” says one 5-star Google review of Konbini Labo. “What a Treat for the taste buds!”
“The snacks are delicious!!” says another. “I’m so happy I found somewhere with onigiri and sandos.”
“Come alone. Come with friends. Come as you are,” the site continues. “Our cozy cafe is a delightful haven where friends gather amidst the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, savoring delectable pastries and engaging in warm, leisurely conversations.”
