According to recent reporting, a NYC based bagel brand is soon building in town.
New York City-based H&H Bagels is reportedly building-out in Mandarin, which would be its second Northeast Florida location after opening in late June in Saint Johns in St. Johns County.
The Jax Daily Record says that the city of Jacksonville issued a permit Sept. 8 for Kaneco Construction LLC of Jacksonville to build-out a 1,142-square-foot space at 10025 San Jose Blvd. at a project cost of $275,008.
The store is where Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop closed in Crown Point Plaza.
Reports there are planned locations for early 2025 in the Tampa and the Jacksonville area. The first store is set for the Shoppes of Aberdeen at 3735 Longleaf Pine Pkwy. in St. Johns. Reportedly the team is also “hard at work” on the following two stores.
“I think quite a few people recognize the hole in the marketplace down there. And there’s tons of New Yorkers that gravitated down there over the years,” Rushin said to th JBJ. “Driving around with the Jacksonville group and real estate brokers, it was like, that area is already committed for 5,000 homes and right there, that’s another 5,000 homes…”
No opening date has been announced.
