According to recent public records, a new Latin establishment is coming to Jacksonville.

Pepe’s Hacienda and Restaurant will be found at 9239 Merrill Road.

A recent Business Journal article states that “after adding 5,000 square feet to its Dupont shopping center store in the Southside — adding shelf space, installing a 60-foot meat, seafood and hot bar with a new restaurant area under renovation — Pepe’s Hacienda Grocery and Restaurant will continue its expansion in Arlington.”

Reportedly, the $950,000 construction will take up about 7,500 square feet of the 10,500-square-foot buildin

“There are a lot of people moving from Miami up there for a better cost of living,” partner Greg Trejo told the Business Journal. “People from El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, a lot of Cubans… they’re dying for a store up there.”

In addition to providing the local community with an array of Latin American groceries, meat and fresh produce, Pepe’s will also feature a “183-seat dining and bar space next door to the hacienda when complete.”
