According to recent reporting, a new bakery has been approved for construction at the St. Johns Town Center.

Paris Baguette is set to build out its sixth Florida location and first in Northeast Florida. Reportedly, the Osceola-based Leaders Construction, Inc. will oversee the $150,000 build of the 2552-square-foot retail store at 4624 Town Crossing Dr. Local readers may recognize the address as the site of a former Pieology Pizzeria.

Since its founding in Seoul in 1988, the restaurant has built over 4,000 units worldwide on the heels of high-end bakery products — French-inspired sweet and savory pastries, cakes, donuts, breads, sandwiches and coffee.

20-year veteran restaurateur Wei Zhu will be the franchisee in charge of developing the Jacksonville region for Paris Baguette after establishing his first Paris Baguette in South Carolina. Zhu aspires for at least three Northeast Florida stores in addition to bakeries in Savannah, Georgia, and Indianapolis.

This expansion will contribute to Paris Baguette’s goal of reaching 1,000 U.S. locations by 2030.
