After a successful 2023 that included the opening of a new brick-and-mortar, The Frozen Pelican is getting ready to open a food truck in Melrose.

One year ago, What Now Jacksonville reported on The Frozen Pelican, known for its shaved ice and good food, preparing to open a new restaurant in Melrose at 854 N SR 21. Now, it appears the company isn’t slowing down, as owners have recently been approved to open a new food truck, according to the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation. The food truck is expected to launch sometime in Summer 2024, offering the business’s delicious frozen snacks and mouth-watering meals.

When the new food truck opens, it will likely serve the community during hot days and when requested, such as birthdays, work parties, etc. This will be a perfect opportunity for anyone looking for a good food option for any event. The restaurant offers a variety of delicious meals, including smash burgers, french fries, nachos, cheesesteaks, BLTs, and more. For dessert, The Frozen Pelican also offers 16 flavors of hand-dipped ice cream, shaved ice, and ice cream sundaes.

It’s a full circle moment for the company, considering Frozen Pelican opened at 130 SE Nightingale Street in Keystone Heights before eventually closing its first storefront and going mobile. Since then, the owners have returned to the brick-and-mortar setting and have seen great success, moving into a vacant standalone building that was the former home of the law office of Gordon William K across from Betty’s Pizza & Subs.
