The Southern Nevada Health District carries out timely health inspections to ensure food safety practices in different Las Vegas eateries. Continuing with its routine process, the SNHD examined several restaurants on April 4. Tambayan BBQ failed to clear the inspection test for many health violations.
Due to the nature of the violations, the SNHD ordered the restaurant to cease operations until further notice.

Tambayan BBQ is known for serving quick bites of authentic Filipino cuisine. Menu highlights include BBQ pork, chicken intestines, egg rolls, beef franks, and pork intestines.
However, in the latest inspection by the SNHD, the Las Vegas restaurant struggled to meet its food safety criteria. In the end, it received 52 demerit points and was ordered to shut down.
Inspection Findings at Tambayan BBQ
The inspection report for Tambayan BBQ noted a range of food safety violations at the Las Vegas establishment. Employees at this BBQ place were working without gloves while preparing food. Inspectors also noticed the presence of parasites in the food prep area.
Going ahead, they found that labels were missing in the commercially manufactured food and food for offsite consumption. The report further highlighted that Tambayan BBQ did not adhere to the time-temperature control for safety.
The SNHD inspectors then saw that kitchen equipment was in poor condition at the Las Vegas food facility. Cross contamination was also noticed to be an issue at Tambayan BBQ. Additionally, chemicals were not rightly stored at the food establishment.
The inspection report also mentioned that food contact surfaces were not properly sanitized. Additionally, handwash/sanitizer was not available at its hand wash sink. Pest control was also not adopted at the Decatur Blvd.-based restaurant.
The inspection report by SNHD then threw light on the absence of a food handler card and non-compliance with its employee health policy.
