Smoking Pig BBQ is a beloved barbecue spot among the Las Vegas crowd. The food facility impresses residents with its slow-smoked meats and handcrafted side dishes. Its catering offering also attracts the crowd. Menu highlights include rib tip tacos, chicken lollipops, and a 3-meat combo.
The Las Vegas-based food establishment could not show satisfactory results in an inspection by the SNHD on April 29. Based on the violations, Smoking Pig BBQ was offered a demerit score of 36.
Inspection Findings at Smoking Pig BBQ
Food inspectors observed multiple health violations at the Las Vegas barbecue restaurant. Sewage was not disposed of as per the SNHD regulations. Adequate backflow was not maintained properly at Smoking Pig BBQ.
After this, inspectors found that Time/Temperature Control for Safety (TCS) foods were not maintained at safe temperatures as required by SNHD regulations. Cross-contamination of food items was also observed at the Las Vegas food establishment. The staff did not wash fruits and vegetables before using them at the food facility.
Equipment was not properly maintained at Smoking Pig BBQ. Chemicals were found in the food prep area of the barbecue facility. Additionally, food contact surfaces were dirty and not sanitized.
Food inspectors of the SNHD further expressed concern about the unavailability of the PIC during the health inspection. Labels on food containers and food handlers’ certificates were also missing at Smoking Pig BBQ.
The Las Vegas-based barbecue food establishment will have to undertake corrective action based on the violations noted by the SNHD. Although no date has been specified, the redressal of the above-mentioned violations can help Smoking Pig BBQ do better in the follow-up inspection.
