Station Casinos plans to open Wildfire Fremont Casino, a new gaming location to be built on a 5 acre site on the west side of Fremont St, according to documents recently submitted to the Las Vegas Planning Commission. The casino will occupy a relatively small small space of 21,500 square feet.

The news comes as part of a push by the company to double its presence in the region, according to recent coverage in the Las Vegas Review-Journal, which quotes Lorenzo Fertitta, vice chairman of Red Rock Resorts, saying the company is currently in “development mode.”

What Now Las Vegas reached out to Station Casinos Owners Representative Carl Hagelman on Tuesday morning. Hagelman was unavailable for comment.

The location for the proposed casino, 2700 Fremont St, is located about 800 feet south of Charleston Blvd. The site was formerly part of the Castaways Hotel and Casino, itself formerly the Showboat Hotel and Casino, which comprised a 445-room 19-story tower, a gaming space, and an adjacent RV park.

The paperwork filed includes a request for a special use permit to serve alcohol on the premises and specifies that the location will not include hotel rooms.

The timeline for construction and opening of the Wildfire Fremont Casino is unknown at this time.
