Global venue development group Oak View Group is planning a major $3 billion project on 25 acres just south of the Las Vegas Strip, near the Las Vegas Blvd–Blue Diamond Rd intersection, according to recent coverage in the Las Vegas Review-Journal. At the center of the project is a $1 billion arena with 20,000 seats, along a retail and entertainment district.
The group, an advisory, development and investment company for sports and live entertainment industries, is planning to break ground sometime next year, with work expected to be complete by the end of 2026.
The arena and entertainment district aren’t all that’s being planned there. A hotel, casino, and amphitheater is also expected as part of the development, although details on these remain scarce. Oak View Group would not operate the arena or hotel-casino, once completed, and that latter would be run by a gaming partner.
Tim Leiweke, CEO of Oak View Group, is quoted in the Review-Journal article:
“South of the Las Vegas Strip represents one of the few areas of potential future growth of the gaming and entertainment corridor. This unprecedented project is an industry game-changer, and we will usher in the evolution of Las Vegas as the new entertainment and sports capital of the world.”
The planned development would be adjacent to another major planned project: the site of a train station planned for Brightline’s high speed rail, which would connect Las Vegas with Los Angeles.
What Now Las Vegas reached out Leiweke early Thursday morning. Leiweke declined to comment.
