Head of Golden Nugget and massive hospitality company Landry’s Inc. Tilman Fertitta appears to be behind plans for a new casino resort on the Las Vegas Strip, according to coverage from Casino.org.
The site named for the new project is at the corner of Las Vegas Blvd and Harmon Ave, in the former home of the Harley Davidson Cafe, currently occupied by Tex Mex Tequila Bar & Grill.
The parcel of land in question is nearly 8 acres, absorbing a nearby parking lot and parking garage. The project’s name is not yet available (although it is apparently not a Golden Nugget). It is expected to be a high-end experience, which makes sense—this being the Strip, after all. Plus, as Casino.org points out, Fertitta’s Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston is known as Texas’s only five-star hotel and spa.
In addition to serving as Chairman and CEO of Landry’s Inc., Fertitta also owns the Houston Rockets, stars in CNBC’s Billion Dollar Buyer, and is the writer of the best-selling Shut Up and Listen: Hard Business Truths that Will Help You Succeed.
No timeline for construction and opening is available yet, although the project would naturally take several years to complete. What Now Las Vegas was unable to reach Fertitta for comment.
