It is now almost three years (three years!!) since What Now reported on plans to bring popular chicken franchise Slim Chickens to the valley. At the time, the brand had 170 locations open and operating, with another 900 in development. Now Slim Chickens has 207 locations up and running, and you can visit one of them at 2645 St Rose Parkway, Suite 100, in Henderson.
Having launched there, franchisee Dennis Ekstrom and his team are losing no time in expanding. What Now reached out to Esktrom after coming across permitting paperwork submitted for a new Slim Chickens at 3780 E Sunset Road.
“We’re in the permitting process,” Ekstrom said. “We just got the demo permits and we’re working on the building permits.”
With construction up head, an opening is expected in about 5 months’ time.
And that’s not all. During the conversation, Ekstrom revealed another piece of news that had slipped by us: Aanother Slim Chickens location is already under construction in North Las Vegas, at West Craig Road and Simmons Street. Unlike the Sunset Road location, this one is ground-up build, which means that despite the head start on Craig Road, both locations are likely to open around the same time.
Meanwhile, Slim Chickens is still building up its brand in Henderson.
“Henderson is going well,” Ekstrom said. “We’re growing and building, and we’re looking forward to a nice future there.”
Ekstrom says the brand stands out even among strong competitors like Raising Cane’s and Chick-fil-A, especially with so many flavor profile choices.
“I love the whole idea,” Esktrom said. “Our chicken tenders, our menu selection, our dessert jars, and Southern sides. Still, we’re most famous for our 17 dipping sauces. That’s really unique for us, and it’s a calling card with a lot of people.”
In short: keep an eye out for more Slim Chickens coming to the valley before the end of the year. Two new restaurants are on the way!
“We really look forward to entering those markets and being part of those communities. We’re currently looking for families and employees to join us,” Ekstrom said.
