Barbacoa Hidalguense is an authentic Mexican eatery set to open its second location this Spring. According to a state permit, Barbacoa Hidalguense will open at 719 N Nellis Blvd.
At the helm of the Huasteca region-inspired restaurant is Ubaldo Sanchez. What Now Las Vegas briefly spoke with Sanchez about the new Barbacoa Hidalguense location opening on Nellis this Spring. Sanchez confirmed that the addition is currently under construction and set to open in March. He also shared that the new Barbacoa Hidalguense will have the same menu as its founding location.
“Barbacoa Hidalguense offers traditional dishes from the Huasteca region, using only quality ingredients to deliver a unique and authentic taste of this distinctive Mexican area,” the website reads.
“Throughout the history of Mexican gastronomy, barbacoa has formed a fundamental part of pre-Hispanic culinary heritage. It is for this reason that barbacoa stands as one of the most representative specialties of Mexican cuisine—not merely a dish, but a cultural legacy passed down through generations.”
Sanchez currently runs the E. Charleston eatery with his wife. Beyond its well-known and beloved barbacoa offerings, the menu features birria quesadillas, chilaquiles, pambazos, and handmade tortillas.
“Each dish represents una bonita experiencia y comida tradicional de Hidalgo, Mexico—a beautiful experience and traditional food from Hidalgo, Mexico, transporting guests directly to that region through taste and preparation,” the website reads.
While no official opening date has been released just yet, the excitement around the new Barbacoa Hidalguense opening on Nellis Blvd. is mounting.
Barbacoa Hidalguense is set to open at 719 N Nellis Blvd in March 2026.
