A few blocks south of Charleston Blvd, at the intersection of E California Ave and S Casino Center Blvd, ceviche and tequila bar La Mezcla will open soon, bringing “a modern culinary experience rooted in Latin American and Pacific Islander traditions” to the area.
“What we’re trying to create is a little escape,” co-owner Melissa Robinson, known for her Arts District sushi restaurant YU-OR-MI Sushi, told What Now Las Vegas in Tuesday phone call. “There’s nothing that a cold beer can’t fix.”
The name, Spanish for “mixture,” captures the eclecticism of the brand: ceviche (itself a mixture of seafoods with leche de tigre), sushi, and drinks emphasizing tequilas, high end rum, and South American-style beer.
The restaurant plans to operate from 11 am to 2 am, offering lunch, dinner, and late night dining, according to paper work recently filed with the Las Vegas Planning Commission. To maximize the small space, “the kitchen and bar will be one in the same so guests will very much be part of the kitchen experience.”
The location at 197 E California Ave, Suite 110, is one of a number of restaurants in the area, including YU-OR-MI Sushi, located a block over; Crafthaus Brewery, in the same building; and Esther’s Kitchen, an Italian restaurant across California Ave.
No opening date has been announced for La Mezcla.
