Sushi and live jazz are no strangers to Las Vegas, but they rarely, if ever, seem to found in the same place at once. Max Jazz, a new venue and sushi restaurant coming to Chinatown early next year, is looking to change that.
“There’s a lot of sushi in Vegas,” owner Max Wirjo told What Now Las Vegas on Wednesday morning. “But we want to add another flavor, which is the music. I’m a big jazz fan, and I don’t find any good places where you can hang out, and drink some wine, and eat some sushi, and enjoy the music.”
The location, currently occupied by Krung Thai Restaurant, is a 3000 sq.-ft. space that will seat about 80 people. In addition to dining-room seating, the space will feature a stage for performers.
Max Jazz Las Vegas is a new take on a brand already operating one location in Indonesia. The specifics of the upcoming restaurant’s menu are currently unavailable, but it will feature a variety of sushi choices and other Japanese dishes. The Indonesia location offers a rather different slate of options, with its selection of dishes including Beef Quesadillas, Beef Ribs, and Norwegian salmon fillet. However, the brand’s ultimate focus remains the same.
“The emphasis is on the music,” Wirjo says.
The location at 4130 S Decatur Blvd is in a building at the southeast corner of the Decatur-Flamingo intersection. Nearby, one can also find restaurants like Café Luhena and Blueberry Hill Restaurant & Bakery.
