Meráki Greek Grill has a new location planned for Downtown Las Vegas. The Mediterranean restaurant will open a 3,600-square-foot location in the Arts District at 1551 South Commerce Street, co-owner Joe Djavairian told What Now Las Vegas.
The team broke ground on the site yesterday and Djavairian said they hope to open in late January or early February.
This will be the sixth location for Meráki Greek Grill in Las Vegas and eighth for the brand as a whole. Existing spots include locations in Spring Valley, Summerlin, Henderson and Las Vegas. The brand just expanded to Utah this year, and it now has two locations open there.
The spot, founded in 2017 by Jerry Goumroian, offers a modern take on Mediterranean cuisine. The menu includes classic Greek offerings such as spanakopita, avgolemono soup (lemon chicken soup) and saganaki. It also offers signature bowls served with pita and tzatziki, gyros, an Athenian chicken sandwich with phyllo-crusted chicken, steak and lamb skewers and falafel.
Meráki Greek Grill locations feature warm wood design elements, blue-driven color schemes and hand-painted murals of Zeus. However, they all have their own charm, and Djavairian said that this will be especially true of the location heading to the Arts District.
“In the Arts District, we want to pay homage to the community,” Djavairian said. “We’re looking at doing something a little more artistic, maybe with the Zeus inside or the outside walls. We definitely want to make sure we’re paying homage to the beautiful Arts District downtown.”
