Founded by Veronica Croaker, local cafe Skimos Coffee Shop has been an award-winning local favorite for eight years now. Named Nevada’s Best Coffee Shop by iHeart back in 2021, and a constant Yelp favorite, the cafe serves up wraps, sandwiches, avocado toasts, pastries and a wide selection of coffees and other beverages. Now after, eight years in operation, the cafe brand is preparing to open its second location, at 9175 Las Vegas Blvd S, Unit 100, in the Vegas Pointe Plaza shopping center.

“Veronica is from Mexico City,” Edward, Veronica’s husband, told What Now on Tuesday. “It’s a tradition in Mexico that families will come over around 12 night and stay until 2 a.m. just visiting.” It’s a tradition, Edward says, that creates a great love for everybody’s favorite caffeine delivery system. “It was ultimately for the love of coffee, that’s the reason she wanted to open up a coffee shop.”

The Skimos food menu has all the cafe favorites you’d expect: there’s a breakfast bagel, fruit and granola bowls, paninis and other sandwiches, wraps, avocado toast, and pastries—there’s even a Banana Split. Edward says the new location will feature largely the same menu, but with a few additions on the breakfast side.

“The new location is about the same size. The décor is a little more closer to the Hispanic theme: neutral colors with green and orange.”

There will be handmade glassware and seating space for about 25, plus some outside seating as well.

Keep an eye for the second outpost of this local coffee favorite, serving up coffee and small eats with the motto, “Your coffee, our passion.”
