The intersection of Lake Mead Boulevard and Buffalo Drive is the future home of a second Las Vegas outpost of specialty burger joint Slater’s 50/50, opening in the beginning of next year.
“Summerlin is a wonderful area,” co-owner Andy Kao told What Now Las Vegas in a Monday afternoon phone call. “It’s a good distance from where we are. We have a lot of customers asking us when we’ll be in Summerlin, and the answer is, ‘Very soon!’”
Those unfamiliar with the 50/50 will be glad (and, no doubt, tempted) to know that the term denotes a burger that is 50% ground beef and 50% ground bacon. Slater’s 50/50 serves these burgers in a number of unusual varieties; for example, the PB and Jellousy Burger, served with peanut butter and strawberry jelly.
The restaurant is famous for its Whale Burger, which was highlighted in the Netflix series Fresh, Fried & Crispy. The whale burger is a colossal thing: a lobster tail, one pound of wagyu beef, three strips of bacon (“billionaire’s” bacon, dusted with gold), truffle cheese, arugula, bacon jam, and roasted garlic aoli.
To top off all this, Slater’s 50/50 also a boasts a total of 50 beers on tap, mostly craft, many locally made.
The location at 7511 W Lake Mead Blvd is the former home of Osaka, which closed in September. The building neighbors Teriyaki Madness, Café Zupas, and Crab N Spice.
