Located at the Thunderbird Boutique Hotel, the Thunderbird Saloon was a moody, classic barroom. The space it formerly occupied at 1215 S Las Vegas Blvd has since been occupied by several other concepts; now, a new upscale bar is bringing back what was great about the brand.

The new bar will be called Royal Bar & Restaurant.

“It will be an upscale bar, with upscale bar food,” co-owner Brenda Derlein told What Now on Friday. “Picture a cigar and whiskey lounge, without the cigars. It’ll be an old Vegas feel. Dark wood, brick, that kind of vibe.”

In addition to the bar, the Royal Bar & Restaurant team will be operating the adjoining wedding chapel and event space.

“It’s an all-inclusive space,” Derlein said. “It used to be the Thunderbird Saloon and Lounge, and since then it’s been several other things. We’re bringing back to its roots: upscale bar food, great drinks, and gaming onsite.”

For the moment, the new bar is still in its early stages. Stay tuned for updates as the Royal Bar & Restaurant project moves forward.
