The Good Word Social Club sounds just as “good” as it intends to be. The “first of its kind gathering space” is set to offer dining, entertainment, and “community-focused programming.” Cherry Development, the owner of the space, and the new apartment building set to open across from The Good Word Social Club, held a groundbreaking for the new spot this week, according to the Las Vegas Weekly.
The Good Word Social Club is set to open in accompaniment with shareWestside in the Historic Westside on the corner of D and Jefferson St.
At the helm of the development projects is the CEO of Cherry Development, Sam Cherry, along with partner and founder, Grant Garcia. What Now Las Vegas briefly spoke with Garcia, who shared a press release with further details.
The Good World Social Club is described as “a transformative project designed to strengthen community connections, support small businesses, and bring new energy to the Historic Westside neighborhood of downtown Las Vegas.”
The Historic Westside is rooted in segregated history. During segregation, Black residents were confined to the area and made it their own.
There has yet to be a major apartment complex built in the area since that era. Therefore, the Cherry Development project is a long time coming.
shareWestside will be a five-story residential apartment building with 100-plus units located right next door to The Good Word Social Club. The club is said to offer “a welcoming environment built to reflect the neighborhood’s character and future.”
When The Good Word Social Club will open has not yet been announced. But the space already has an Instagram page to help you stay up to date.
