Shawn McClain, the James Beard Award-Winning chef behind Sahara Las Vegas’s Balla Italian Soul, is planning a new off-Strip project for Matter Real Estate’s mixed-use development UnCommons. Wineaux, the chef’s new wine bar and shop concept will open at UnCommons late this year, according to recent coverage by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

McClain’s hospitality group, McClain Camarota Hospitality—also helmed by Richard and Sarah Camarota—will launch Wineaux with an emphasis, says the RJ coverage, on “international wines, beyond the usual big names, for people to explore (social sipper to wine geek) at a range of prices.”

Wineaux will offer chef-imagined small bites to pair with the wines, along with wine tasting events and a wine club.

In addition to Wineaux and Balla, McClain is also behind Mandalay Bay’s Libertine Social. What Now reached out to the chef on Thursday. McClain was not available for comment.
