PLUS Development on behalf of its client is proposing a new multifamily project on the border of the Leimert Park and Crenshaw neighborhoods of Los Angeles.

PLUS is currently seeking various entitlements for the project via the City as part of the approval process to go vertical on land occupied by Sal’s Auto Body & Paint Shop, at 4242 Crenshaw Boulevard.

The yet-to-be-named development would butt up against Jack In The Box with its 124 apartments and 6,000 square feet of retail space.

“Here the scale shifts to larger multifamily buildings,” PLUS writes about the project on its website.

“The design aims to both acknowledge the shift in scale and retain the sense of detached massing typical of Leimert Park’s traditional fabric.”

Saitowitz + Natoma is the architect of record for 4242 Crenshaw but the developer has not been confirmed.

“The building is articulated with landscaped side yard slots, echoing the detached cubic homes of Leimert Park at a new scale.”

Its design includes seven individual blocks and shifting balconies which are meant to “create rhythmic repetition.”

The Crenshaw Boulevard street frontage will be “active use” storefront retail and building amenity.

A rooftop facing Crenshaw would offer a landscaped amenity area for building residents with seating and BBQ areas.
