Plans to build The Hub On Campus mixed-use from the ground-up near the University of Southern California (USC) are moving forward.

Development partners Amplify Development Co. and Core Spaces were recently issued “Eary Start Permits” by the City of Los Angeles.

Early starts allow developers to begin prepping the land for vertical construction—like site preparation, foundation work, demolition of interior non-structural partitions—while awaiting approvals of larger permitting applications.

The Hub on Campus will sit adjacent USC, at 3800 S. Figueroa St., and will boast 79 apartment units across seven stories including 10,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space.

Ten percent of the apartment units are deed-restricted as affordable and reserved for residents employed within the immediate area of the project earning 30 percent of the City of Los Angeles’ area median income (AMI).

“Two of the three founding members of Amplify Development Company are alumni of the [USC], so the project holds a special place in the company’s hearts,” the company writes on a project landing page.

“The Hub will cater to students at the University of Southern California as well as local residents that work within the community. The project will differentiate itself from other properties in the market by incorporating a best-in-market quality of design, retail tenant offering, and amenity offerings.”

An opening timeline is TBD.
