Granda Hills’ Balboa Mission Square shopping center will soon be home to Planet Fitness.

The national gym franchise has already begun making preparations to space formerly belonging to Granada Pavilion Event Hall in the Trader Joe’s-anchored shopping center to begin its buildout.

Signature Banquet Hall, the massive event space that shuttered in late-2019, sits next store and is still available for lease, according to the center’s latest marketing materials.

Reps for Planet Fitness Granada Hills on Wednesday, Feb. 19, are meeting with the Granada Hills South Neighborhood Council, seeking a “zone variance to permit” the 24-hour gym in the existing commercial center, otherwise not permitted in the “C4 zone.”

With the addition of Planet Fitness Granada Hills, Balboa Mission Square has four available tenant spaces.

This isn’t the only Planet Fitness planned in the San Fernando Valley.

An outpost of the 24-hour fitness center is opening soon in neighboring Chatsworth.

[Editor’s note: an earlier version of this article incorrectly listed Planet Fitness as replacing Signature Banquet Hall.]
