A concept dubbed Metabolic Brewing Co. is coming to 1609 S. Grove Avenue in Ontario, according to a “small beer manufacturer” license recently filed with The Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control and confirmed by the concept’s Co-Founder, David “Fresko” Fresquez. Fresko’s partners on the project are listed as Kathryn Fresquez and Lerone Mullin.
Metabolic, set to replace Braemar Brewery at the Pepper Grove Business Center, will have a “comic nerd-heavy, mad science, retro ’80s and ’90s vibe,” with a projector screen showing black & white sci-fi films as an aesthetic, says Fresko. Aptly, Fresko calls the incoming brewery a cross between the 1985 horror comedy Re-Animator and Frank Oz’s Little Shop of Horrors.
In addition to beer, seltzer, and slushies, Metabolic will feature a rotating selection of outdoor food vendors.
Fresko did not disclose an opening date but did mention that the team is teasing the project’s ongoing construction via its Instagram while they await their ABC license.
