RED O Arrives at The Promenade at Westlake
RED O Taste of Mexico officially opened to the Westlake community on August 18. The high-end restaurant brings bold, authentic flavors with a modern twist, merging elevated cuisine, immersive design, and warm hospitality.
Owner Rick Teasta said, “Westlake Village has long felt like the right home for RED O’s next chapter. From the moment we started building this location, we knew it was going to be special.” Guests can expect live music, exclusive pop-ups, and curated dinners.
Influenced by Tulum, the design combines tropical textures and natural elements to create a lively, escape-like setting. The location will offer limited hours and reservations. General Manager Oliver Wynn said, “This community truly embraces great food, beautiful spaces, and memorable experiences—everything we stand for.”
Design Inspiration
International designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard shaped the space to reflect the relaxed sophistication of a bohemian beach town. Bullard said, “The design for RED O draws inspiration from the casual yet sexy spirit of Tulum—layered with textures, patterns, and romance.”
According to the award-winning designer, the team blended caba cloth, rattan, rope-wrapped elements and vintage Oaxacan textiles to produce an inviting, exotic atmosphere. The entryway, inspired by the weave of a Mexican blanket, sets the stage for the dining experience.
Guests enter through a tequila-bottle tunnel that leads to a rope-wrapped bar, surrounded by greenery, a lantern-lit plaster tree, original Mexican art, and a custom mural.
Culinary Approach
Led by Corporate Executive Chef Armando Martinez and Executive Chef John Pigott, the kitchen highlights Oaxacan flavors while drawing inspiration from regions across Mexico.
Classic dishes are reimagined with modern techniques, resulting in plates that feel both traditional and contemporary. Signature dishes include Surf & Turf Tablita made with 32 oz. tomahawk steak, 1 lb. lobster tail, house guacamole, red rice, beans, and fresh-pressed tortillas.
Other highlights include Branzino Zarandeado, the tropical Cocorita, and the spicy Alacrán Margarita. RED O Westlake Village will offer lunch, dinner, happy hour, Taco Tuesdays and weekend brunch, presented with the brand’s signature hospitality.
Programming will feature live music, pop-up dinners, seasonal specials, and a rotating lineup of events.
RED O is expected to become a new dining destination for Thousand Oaks and the surrounding community.
