A brand eatery called Status Restaurant & Lounge is looking to make its way to Hollywood, located at 1612 N. Cahuenga Blvd.

This is the first of many planned concepts from The Status Group.

The proposed 3,608 square-foot restaurant will move into the former home of the now-closed La Velvet Margarita Cantina. The restaurant will be split between a 1,957-square-foot indoor dining area with 103 seats and a 987-square-foot patio with an additional 21 chairs. The hospitality group recently submitted documents to the Los Angeles Planning Department, so if everything is approved, the restaurant will likely open in late 2023.

The Status Group, which launched late last year, has served Los Angeles through pop-up events and collections. The group is responsible for setting up Fur & Ice, Light’s 40th Solar Return Celebration at the beginning of the year. The Group has also partnered with event planner The Wife of the Party for Chris Brown’s birthday celebration. Finally, the group hosted Mookie Bett’s and Nelly’s All-Star Carnival, an official MLB All-Star after party.

Now, The group is getting ready to launch their first restaurant. Status will feature elegant designs focused on a beige, brown, and gray color palette. Like many of the group’s past events and collections, customers can expect lavish decors such as gold chandeliers and black leather seats with exceptional pan-Caribbean cuisine something which has not been seen anywhere within the area.

[Editor’s note: this article was updated to reflect a change in ownership. The Pavè Group is no longer involved in the project.]
