Armen Tefenkjian, an established business owner who is behind Pasadena Pizza, is getting ready to open two pizza concepts in Los Angeles, including reopening Baldwin Park Pizza Co., located at 4744 Maine Ave.
The longtime restaurateur recently submitted a liquor license application and tells What Now Los Angeles that the shop will hold a soft opening this week, with plans for a full grand opening in about a month. Tefenkjian says he’s intentionally keeping a low profile for now, citing concerns about overwhelming the staff during the early stages.
Tefenkjian is also in the process of launching a second pizza concept, this one in Covina. While the name of the new eatery has not yet been disclosed, he confirmed the opening is expected later this year.
Armen Tefenkjian is the principal behind Pasadena Pizza, a local pizzeria known for its straightforward, classic pies. His expanding footprint in the Los Angeles area reflects a continued focus on neighborhood-oriented pizza shops.
Covina is an appealing location for a new pizzeria, thanks to its growing food scene and strong community presence in the San Gabriel Valley. It sits at the intersection of suburban demand and regional food interest, making it the perfect spot for introducing a new concept.
Los Angeles County, more broadly, has seen a consistent rise in independent pizza operations, with styles ranging from Neapolitan to Detroit and New York slices. While competition is increasing, there is still a solid market for quality, accessible pizza—something Tefenkjian aims to deliver with his upcoming shops.
