Heavy Handed, one of Los Angeles’ most sought-out burger trucks, is opening its first brick-and-mortar in Santa Monica, located at 2912 Main St.

Co-owner Max Miller and Danny Gordon will move into the former home of Edobox by Makoto sometime in October 2022. The two joined forces to serve their delicious short rib burgers & beef tallow fries throughout Los Angeles County, first as a sidewalk operation and then from a food truck. Now, Miller and Gordon are getting ready to graduate once again with a brand new brick-and-mortar with a large patio, just a few steps away from Ocean View Park and South Beach Park.

The company takes pride in its burger patty made with short rib beef, providing an ideal balance of meat and marbled fat. Heavy Handed adds grilled onions, homemade pickles, and cheese before sandwiching it between a housemade buttered bun. As for a side, the restaurant offers crispy fries that are fried in beef tallow. The new Heavy Handed restaurant will also add some new menu items, including soft serve ice cream, craft beer, and natural wine by the glass or bottle, as reported by LA Times.

Although the flagship restaurant is still a few months away from opening, the company already has other brick-and-mortar locations planned. The exact areas of these restaurants are unknown, but they likely won’t open until next year. In the meantime, Heavy Handed will convert the food truck into a catering-focused vehicle. All of this will help the company become one of the most popular local burger joints in the area.
