De La Nonna, a former pop-up shop serving miniature pan pizzas around Los Angeles, is set to open a new restaurant in the Arts District, located at 710 E. Fourth Pl.

The new restaurant will take over the former location of In Sheeps Clothings, a Japanese-style listening bar that closed down last year. De La Nonna, which means “from the Grandmother,” plans to sometime in November 2021, according to Eater LA. Owners Patrick Costa, Jose Cordon, and Lee Zaremba are hoping to quickly open the new restaurant to bring more homestyle Italian dishes to the Arts District.

Before the trio of owners decided to try and open a new pan pizza restaurant, the three of them were off on their own ventures. Costa was cooking at Tartine, Cordon worked as a Bar Manager at Felix, and Zaremba worked as the Bar Director for Boka Group in Chicago. The three longtime friends had the idea of opening an Italian option that wasn’t so expensive but could also serve as an alternative to most patio dining options throughout Los Angeles. After popping up in places such as Dudley Market in Venice, Little Prince in Santa Monica, and Melody in Virgil Village, the three owners are ready to open their first brick-and-mortar.

The pan pizzas found at De La Nonnas will be made with a 55-hour fermented dough. The restaurant incorporates Detroit, Sicilian, and “Nonna-style” methods across its menu. Customers can expect to find many different Italian dishes at the new restaurant, but the menu’s highlight will always be their pan pizzas.

“De La Nonna” (From The Grandma) is a play on the combination of Costa’s and Cordon’s Italian and Latin heritage and the idea of Italian soul food that your Nonna would approve of,” according to their website.
