Marée Is Opening in Los Angeles This Week

Chef Marcus Jernmark’s newest concept, Marée, is opening on September 9. The bistro and wine bar is located at 9575 W. Pico Blvd., 2nd floor. It will occupy the space directly above the chef’s Michelin-starred restaurant Lielle.

According to an Eater LA, Marée will offer a more casual dining experience than Lielle. The 70-seat restaurant will serve an à la carte menu inspired by French cooking and California’s seasonal ingredients. Jernmark said he wants the food to be lighter, more aromatic, and vibrant while still respecting French culinary traditions.

The Eater LA report further states that Jernmark drew inspiration from San Francisco’s Zuni Cafe when developing Marée. The restaurant was designed by Lovers Unite in collaboration with Jernmark’s wife, Andrea Jernmark. The space features warm lighting, wood tables, a semi-open kitchen, and a green onyx marble bar.

What to Expect

The menu at Marée will evolve with the season, but will be rooted in French cooking and California’s seasonality. An equally compelling wine program will complement the menu.

The menu will include starters, seafood, pasta, and meat dishes, according to Eater LA. Some of the highlights include escargot beignets, prawn cocktail, halibut crudo, beef tartare, spaghetti vongole, ricotta ravioli, and bouillabaisse.

The menu will also feature a hamburger au poivre served with a four-peppercorn sauce. It will be limited to 30 orders each day. Other options will include veal sausage, grilled meats, pommes frites, roasted summer squash, and sautéed spinach.

Dessert options will include canelés and dark chocolate mousse with hazelnuts. The wine list will feature bottles from France, Italy, Spain, and other regions.

Marée will open September 9 with 70 seats and an à la carte menu that changes with the seasons.
