A brand new Chinese restaurant and tea lounge, Men & Beasts, is getting ready to open in Los Angeles at 2100 W. Sunset Boulevard.

This is the latest from the Minty Z Miami Team, led by Alex Falco, according to a recent liquor license application. Minty Z was a beloved vegan spot in Coconut Grove, Florida,  offering entirely plant-based and vegan Asian-fusion plates with a specialty in dim sum. It will close on Sunday, September 1, 2024, after nearly four years in business. Once named the Best Restaurant in Coconut Grove by New Times in 2021, the vegan Asian-fusion restaurant shared the heartbreaking news with its customers on social media.

“It’s with a heavy heart that we make this announcement,” according to the company’s social media last year. “As of Sunday, September 1, Minty Z in Coconut Grove will be closing its doors permanently. The restaurant will be under new ownership after September. When we opened in 2020, we never could have anticipated what Minty Z would become. Bringing joy to our community through food and friendship was always our intention, but we have been overwhelmed by the gratitude and goodwill bestowed upon us by our guests and our team, and we hope we have managed to reciprocate that same gratitude as much as possible. To feel as though we’re depriving our fans and our community of something they’ve come to cherish is indeed painful. Please know that this decision has not been made lightly and comes from the most personal of reasons.”

Now that Falco has closed that venture, it appears he has relocated to Los Angeles to open Men & Beasts in Los Angeles, moving into the former home of Cosa Buona, which recently closed its doors on March 1, 2025. It’s unclear when this new concept is expected to open, but customers can expect a variety of delicious Chinese food paired with plenty of tea options. Falco and the Minty Z Miami Team should do excellent in this prime location, considering the space has high visibility by sitting at the corner of Alvarado Street and Sunset Boulevard. Men & Beasts will also have plenty of foot traffic from the surrounding businesses.
