Miya Miya, the popular shawarma pop-up founded by chef Yazeed “Yaz” Soudani, will open its first permanent location at West Edge in West Los Angeles.
The new restaurant will be part of the growing West Edge development, which debuted in 2023 at the corner of Olympic and Bundy, according to Eater Los Angeles. Miya Miya first gained attention when Soudani launched it as a backyard pop-up in June 2023. Now, Miya Miya, a favorite at Smorgasburg, will open its first permanent location in 2026, offering a unique twist on shawarma. The name, which means “100-percent” in Arabic, reflects Soudani’s commitment to perfection in his cooking.
The restaurant is known for its signature chicken shawarma, seasoned with imported spices from Jordan, served in fresh saj bread, and complemented with garlic sauce or beef tallow-fried French fries. Customers can also add spicy garlic sauce and pomegranate molasses for extra flavor. The West Edge location will feature a 25-foot shawarma bar, where guests can watch their food prepared from an outdoor patio. The new space will offer a more immersive dining experience, giving customers a front-row seat to prepare meals.
Miya Miya will join other retailers and eateries at West Edge, including Gelson’s, Presotea, and Clean Juice. The development is rapidly becoming a go-to spot for food lovers in the area. Until the restaurant opens, Miya Miya hosts a weekly pop-up every Friday at West Edge starting at 5:30 p.m. The permanent location will bring the pop-up’s popular flavors to a broader audience and create a more permanent space for fans to enjoy. Miya Miya’s opening will further solidify West Edge as a top culinary destination in West Los Angeles.
