Jersey Mike’s is a massive franchise with nearly 1,600 locations all over the country and nearly 300 in California alone. A new location is moving to the bottom floor of the student housing mid-rise structure, Icon Plaza, near the University of Southern California. The 3584 S Figueroa St address also houses the street-level restaurants Wingstop, Starbucks, and Movita — which is replacing Pizza Studio, pending construction.
However, it looks like Which Which has permanently closed its doors in suite 2, where Jersey Mike’s is planning a full build-out, according to the lease. The build-out will add some square footage to the space, taking the 500 square-foot Which Which and expanding it up to 1,313 square feet.
Earlier this year, Jersey Mike’s put a lot of money in to foster the growth of its franchises in order to boost expansion, Restaurant Business Online reported. “We added 181 stores last year,” Jersey Mike’s Founder Peter Cancro said. “This year, it might be 225.” On top of that, Jersey Mike’s also proposed a plan to give 25 franchise locations to any store manager who wants to be a franchisee themselves but can’t scrounge up enough money to do so.
