Nick the Greek’s brand new Westwood location is finally opening this Thursday, October 8, serving free lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on that special day, so stop by, at 10959 Kinross Ave., to partake in the grand opening festivities.
On the heels of opening in Westwood, additional locations of the quick-service franchise are in the works. Franchisee Anton Van Happen is developing Nick the Greek locations in Thousand Oaks and Santa Monica, both of which are in the early stages, he told What Now Los Angeles. After leases are secured and renovations complete, those outposts for which Van Happen would not disclose the locations, should be open sometime next year.
Van Happen explained to WNLA why he chose these locations, which are strategically centralized between popular neighborhoods, casting a wide net to get that Nick the Greek brand out there. Van Happen mentioned a possible future opening in Oxnard and other smaller neighborhoods.
“I don’t have, right now, exact locations of the next locations after Santa Monica and Thousand Oaks,” Van Happen said. “Come next year we’ll have a better idea of where to put the other locations.”
While these restaurants are meant to draw in the most publicity, what really sets Nick the Greek aside from other Mediterranean restaurants is that it stays true to its Grecian roots, according to Van Happen. Most Mediterranean aren’t specific to Greek, he said. “I guess you call it street food,” Van Happen explained about Nick the Greek’s authenticity.
(Edited to correct opening day of the week)
Hi Kasey, the GRAND opening on October 8 is on Thursday and not on Wednesday. Please urgent correct. Thank you
Sorry about that mix up! I went ahead and fixed it.
