A new coffee concept is looking to ground people into the present through beverages. Omake will open at 12437 Ventura Blvd in Studio City (signage spotted by What’s New to San Fernando Valley). Owner Iskuhi Kalantaryan told What Now Los Angeles that they are aiming to open in about a month.
Kalantaryan describes the concept as “one of its kind,” centered around connection and coffee and tea education. The spot will provide signature coffee tasting experiences as well as tea rituals. The beverage menu will focus on globally-inspired multi-roastery and experimental coffees, with drinks designed by baristas from all over the world. There will also be ceremonial matcha sourced from Japan available.
For each coffee experience or tea ritual, baristas will be available to walk customers through the backstory of the coffee or tea, including where it comes from and the work that goes into every cup.
“The main idea behind Omake is a teleport into the now,” Kalantaryan said. “During the day, we get so busy, grab our coffee and just run. We want to bring the connection and conversations back. We want people to connect over coffee and have their mini rituals every day. I think that’s something we’re missing.”
The space will feature a globally-influenced design. Kalantaryan worked with interior designers from Saudi Arabia to conceptualize the space. It will feature elements such as natural stones, walnut wood and microcement to create an atmosphere designed to encourage connection.
Kalantaryan said that the team hopes to bring new concepts to the area, all centered around the idea of connecting in the present moment.
“Whether it’s a coffee or food location we open, we want it to have the concept of connecting and bringing people into the now so they enjoy where they are,” Kalantaryan said. “We want people to enjoy their now.”
