A new sushi restaurant called Santo Nigiri and Sake Bar is heading towards Silver Lake, located at 3822 Sunset Blvd.
The new restaurant will sit in a 596 square-foot location with 13 interior seats. Santo Nigiri and Sake Bar will also have a 59 square-foot patio that can sit up to eight additional customers. The restaurant will open every day at noon and close at 11:30 pm Sunday through Thursday, and at 1:00 am on Friday and Saturday. Owner Jose Antonio Gozain Llopis hopes to open its doors by Summer 2022, with construction hopefully starting in December.
This will be the first location in the United States, with their original location, called Santo Hand Roll Bar, in Mexico City in La Roma. Customers can expect to find an array of favorites on their menu, including edamame, rice bowls, sashimi, hand rolls, makis, and nigiri. The restaurant will focus on fresh seafood for its customers, while the sake and beer will accentuate the dining experience. Santo Nigiri and Sake Bar will also have a hand roll and sake bar that highlights the fine art of Japanese sushi.
“Bringing additional seafood options to the Silver Lake neighborhood will continue to draw visitors and retain longtime residents that prize culinary variety in their walkable corner of the city,” according to a case filing for the restaurant submitted to the City of Los Angeles. “Sushi bars have historically succeeded on the Sunset strip, making Santo a logical addition to Los Angeles’ diverse dining history.”
CORRECTION: This article previously misstated this was a brand new restaurant opening in Winter 2021. This will be the second location of a restaurant based in Mexico, opening in Summer 2022.
