Starbird, a fast casual chain known for its crispy chicken, is slated to open in Torrance’s Plaza del Amo shopping center in early 2025. What Now Los Angeles recently reported that Mendocino Farms, another fast casual chain focused on sandwiches, is also working on a new location in the same plaza.

Starbird prides itself on using antibiotic-free, never frozen chicken that is hand breaded in a proprietary gluten-free blend. The menu offers a number of items featuring the brand’s crispy chicken, including nuggets, sandwiches, tenders, wings, salads, and even a side of chicken and churros served with maple syrup.

Starbird was founded in 2016 by The Culinary Edge (TCE), an innovative restaurant consultancy. The company is actively looking for franchisees and is rapidly expanding throughout California, with a Marina del Rey outpost scheduled to open on March 26.

Starbird has earned numerous accolades for its crispy chicken and tech-driven customer experience, including being named the winner of Nation’s Restaurant News’ Chicken Showdown in 2023.
