Sweet Wheat, one of Los Angele’s tastiest spots for fresh baked baguettes and croissants has a new location lined up in Redondo Beach.

According to owner Romaine Lecat, the bakery is eying a mid-June opening, pending an inspection from the city.

Romain isn’t the only Lecat involved at Sweet Wheat though. His brother, Alexandre, is also on board. Together, the pair bake classic French breads and pastries in state-of-the-art electric ovens. These aren’t your average supermarket baguettes, either. The Lecat brothers bake with their own levain starter, a natural yeast culture that replaces commercial yeast and gives the breads a more complex flavor and makes them easier to digest.

You can of course enjoy those baguettes on their own, but they may be even better as the vessel for some of Sweet Wheat’s signature sandwiches.

But bread isn’t all they have at Sweet Wheat, also expect a full selection of cakes, tarts, and meringues, to satisfy customers with more of a sweat tooth. Stay tuned for more updates about when Sweet Wheat Redondo will open their doors. Romain says there’s a grand opening party in the works.
