Maple Block Meat Co. — a Culver City-based Texas-style BBQ joint by Daniel Weinstock and Mike Garrett — is opening a second location this summer at 317 S. Broadway, home of LA’s Grand Central Market.

The forthcoming eatery will take over the former Horse Thief location which closed after a decade at the famed food emporium. As for how and why Weinstock and Garrett landed on GCM, a rep for the duo tells WNLA, “We really wanted to get coverage on the east side. We had done a few of the Smorgasburg [open-airfood market] events and people loved us there and continued to ask why we weren’t available near them. So, now we will be!”

Maple Block specializes in authentic, wood-smoked meats coupled with a seasonal menu based on the traditions of American barbecue. The OG offerings consist of sandwiches (brisket, turkey pork shoulder, sausage, pimiento); salads topped with smoked turkey or chopped chicken; meat plates with brisket, ribs, chicken, and/or sausage; platters, sweets, drinks, and sides.

Per Eater, the incoming outpost will serve the duo’s signature brisket, ribs, cheeseburgers, and pulled pork along with some new menu items, plus wine and beer on tap.
