Ubuntu Cafe, a vegan African restaurant, has officially taken over the former Michael’s Downtown space on 3rd Street Promenade, which shuttered its doors on July 14.

Ubuntu opened its doors for brunch this past weekend and is offering the same service as its Colorado Lagoon location as of Monday.

Ubuntu, a concept by Overthrown Hospitality, takes pride in using locally sourced, organic ingredients that are GMO- and dairy-free. In addition to signature items, like the breakfast egg sandwich, its menu changes seasonally

“We fell in love with the location and Downtown is amazing,” co-owner Fellippe Esteves told Longbeachize.

Ubuntu offers breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner, with dishes like smashed avocado toast, omelette, eggs benny, short ribs chilaquiles, all vegan burger, shrimp cocktail, burrata and beets, pastas, scallops, quiche, and more.
