On September 16, Victor Villa announced via social media that he’ll bring his beloved LA concept, Villa’s Tacos, to the world-famous Grand Central Market.
The exciting news comes on the heels of the debut of his first brick-and-mortar in Highland Park. For years, Villa operated Villa’s Tacos as a backyard pop-up and street stand before snagging the keys to his Figueroa Street outpost.
The stand gained national fame from a spotlight in season three of Netflix’s Taco Chronicles and has since become synonymous with “LA style” tacos, even winning L.A. Taco’s 2021 & 2022 Taco Madness tournament wherein Villa’s competed against top Southern California taquerias.
Notably, Villa’s serves mesquite-grilled meats, handmade blue corn tortillas, family recipe salsas, and guacamole free of charge.
Villa mentioned in his announcement video’s caption that an opening date will be revealed soon. His lauded tacos will join La Tostaderia’s seafood-centric tostadas as well as Sarita’s authentic pupusas at GCM, amongst a handful of other cultural concepts.
