Encino appears to be receiving a new Whole Foods location, according to ABC permitting from last month. It will join Encino Marketplace at 16325 Ventura Blvd (@whatsnewsfv spotted signage up at the space).
The space was formerly home to an Amazon Fresh store, which closed earlier this year amid a mass closure of Amazon Fresh locations. In January, Amazon announced that the company, which acquired Whole Foods in 2017, would be shifting brick-and-mortar efforts toward Whole Foods and converting some of the former Amazon Fresh stores to Whole Foods locations. They also shared plans to invest in more than 100 new Whole Foods locations over the next few years.
Encino Marketplace, which spans 95,000 square feet, features shops such as See’s Candies, Solidcore, Starbucks, CVS Pharmacy, Bacio di Latte, Sweet Lady Jane and Sweetgreen.
What Now Los Angeles has reached out to Whole Foods for additional details regarding the expansion. As of now, it appears that the spot is in the early stages of development.
Whole Foods, which specializes in natural and organic groceries, has more than 550 locations across the U.S., Canada and the United Kingdom. It also has a new location on the way to Encinitas.
