WEHOville is reporting that Gold Coast, a West Hollywood mainstay for nearly 40 years, won’t be reopening. Co-Owner Bryan Worl announced the news on their private Facebook page Thursday, according to WEHOville. “This is heart breaking for all and especially the employees of the [Gold Coast] who I wouldn’t trade for the world,” Worl wrote in the social media post. “They were so loyal and worked so hard. I can’t even start with the customers right now and what unconditional love you gave to this little neighborhood dive bar.” Bob Hastings first opened Gold Coast in 1981.

Worl also said Gold Coast will reopen the space one last time on Saturday, Sept. 26, for patrons to “stop by and say ‘hi’ or come in for a quick pic or last goodbye…,” according to WEHOville. “…I feel a lot of people would like that…just make sure you have a mask…with the luck we are having the health dept will stop in…a lot of people called the [Gold Coast] home, and we just want everyone to have a chance to say goodbye.”

Gold Coast is the fourth WeHo nighttime hotspot to reveal it won’t be reopening after government mandates forced a closure in the spring to slow the spread of COVID-19. Gold Coast joins Flaming Saddles, Rage, and Gym Bar, in bidding farewell.
