A new distillery and tasting room is making its way to Covington.

Rashelle and Darren Chaney are preparing to launch 797 Distillery at 425-B E Pleasant Ave, in a historic building that once operated as a Coca-Cola bottling plant.

The Chaneys told What Now Memphis that the distillery will present a “unique blend of history and rustic elegance,” providing the perfect atmosphere for visitors to sample spirits and learn about the distillation process.

Combining traditional recipes with contemporary distilling techniques, 797 Distillery will feature a diverse lineup of spirits, including moonshine, bourbon, rum, and brandy. Proudly touting their creations as among the finest, 797’s website proclaims that they are “small in size, but big in flavor.”

Additionally, the Chaneys emphasized that the barrel house is “large enough to store years’ worth of whiskey, ensuring our spirits develop the rich, complex flavors that define our brand.”

The tasting room evokes the old-world charm of a rustic barn, complete with cedar wood accents and a metal roof. Here, guests can sample spirits while catching a game at the bar.

And the venue’s location is prime. Situated near the city’s Art Depot District, 797 will provide ample parking and easy access to the area’s unique shops, live music events, and farmers market. “We are excited to participate in these events, promoting the area as a must-visit destination for both locals and tourists,” said the Chaneys.

Looking ahead, the husband and wife team plans to build an outdoor event space to host live music and other community gatherings. 797 Distillery is slated to uncork its first batch by the spring of 2025.
